Dear Beautiful Fitness Friends,

I hope this finds ya’ll doing amazingly well.  The sunshine is the highlight of my life right now!  Love, LOVE, LOVIN’ it!

Last week, I wrote about the importance of smiling.  I’m hoping ya’ll noticed your smiles more : )

As I was writing, I kept wanting to include laughter as well, as it is like the icing on the cake.  I mean, you can’t laugh without smiling, right?

Laughter, like smiling, is best when it comes from deep within, without hesitation, that bubbles up and explodes from us.  Whether is giggles, guffaws, or chortles, laughter is a magical thing!

Here are some cool tidbits about laughing:

* When we laugh, there is a decrease in stress hormones (like cortisol, which is known for increasing belly fat).

* There is an increase in endorphins (which lower feelings of depression).

* There is an increase in human growth hormone (which helps protect us against disease and infection).

* Here’s an interesting one:  Not only does real out-right laughing work, but also the mere thought and anticipation of laughing (and even faked laughter!) can change your body’s chemistry in the same way!  The brain knows a lot, but sometimes, the body knows more!

* Laughing helps burn calories by increasing your heart rate by 10 to 20 percent as well as your metabolism. While laughing for 15 minutes a day only burns 40 calories a day at most; over a year, this equates to about 4 pounds!

The bottom line, friends, is that laughter feels amazing!  So whether you need to watch a funny movie, check out funny e-cards (Hoops and Yoyo get me every time!), or get together with friends that you have a rockin’ time with, FIND SOME WAYS TO LAUGH MORE EACH DAY!
