Hello, Lovely Peoples!

I hope this finds ya’ll brilliantly in the moment and inspired by life!!

Quick scheduling note: I will now be teaching Power Pop at Hipline for the ladies on Wednesdays at 5:15 pm.  This class is a fun strengthening class that will work your beautiful muscles in amazing new ways!  Hope to see ya there!

And, back to the regularly scheduled program…

Last week, I posted about the importance of fueling your body.  A friend from back in the day, Kelly, shared that she really liked making a post-workout smoothie.  This, in addition to my friend, Britt, talking about a green smoothie she had recently made PLUS a coworker who had been drinking them most of this school year, who had found great energy and lost a lot of weight, made me start wondering about this ‘magical’ j-u-ice (whew, what a long sentence!).  My friend Britt invited me over for a yummy dinner last week, and surprised me with this juice as our beverage, without telling me of the ingredients.  I have to say that this greenish juice did look a little funky, as I don’t usually drink things that are green.  However, I have to say, friends, it was pretty darn yummy!  When I learned there was spinach and avocado in the mix, I was super surprised it didn’t taste like a salad PLUS the idea of getting so many fruits and veggies at once was intriguing to me since I get so busy during the week and don’t always get as many as I would like (ok, what is going on with these long sentences today??).

Here’s the deal.  You can add anything you like.  I suggest playing with ingredients to see what works best for you.  The one I made today was: banana, mango, pineapple, soy milk, avocado, blueberry, spinach.  The banana is essential for consistency.  The spinach is also essential to get the greens, and the crazy thing is you can put in a lot!  You could substitute any fruits (frozen ones are an easy option, too!) and juice or milk for the soy milk.  You could also add in almond/peanut butter or yogurt for extra protein.  It makes a pretty big amount, so I just put it in the fridge in my blender, and did a quick spin later in the day to get it re-mixed and had a second one.  YUMMY and HEALTHY!

The only thing I wanna warn ya’ll about is that if this is a bit increase to your fruit/veggie portion of the day, start slow, as it can impact your digestional system.  Hey, I’m just looking out for ya’ll and keepin’ it real!

Go ahead, give it a whirl!

Got ideas?  Share!

In peace and j-u-ice,

Heather
