Hello, Fitness Folks!

I hope this finds you in a moment of smoothness and tranquility!

I am happy to report that my morning yoga is still happening; AND it’s such a positive way to start the day!  What little practice do you want to add to your life?  Seriously, reflect on it and GO FOR IT!!

I have noticed lately that I make it to the afternoon only to realize that I’ve had my morning tea, and not had much else in terms of liquids.  Then, being frustrated that I’m not hydrating, I force myself to down water.  Not fun!  So, time to add in a new little practice!  Last year, I found filling my thermos with herbal or green tea in the mornings to be a savior to the winter hydration challenge.  Time to bust out the thermos or mug, ya’ll!

And, on the hydration tip, I wanted to give you the heads-up that many holiday drinks that are marketed so well and sound so appealing when it’s cold outside are big calorie traps!  For example, a Peppermint Mocha (16 oz, whole milk with whip) will cost you 470 calories!  Considering that the average woman needs 1800 and average man who needs 2,000  (If you are trying to lose weight then it will be even less!), steer clear of these traps!  Bottom line to not make your bottom bigger: Stay clear of syrups and extra sugars, order non or low fat milk, and try to hold the whip.

Last, but not least, with alcoholic beverages, also be aware that some of the holiday drinks can cost you extra calories, too.  Spiced Eggnog will cost you around 400 calories, while champagne is only 180.  In my opinion, there’s nothing better than bubbles to celebrate anyway!  Just food, or should I say drink, for thought as holiday parties are underway.

Happy healthy hydration, fabulous people!

In peace, Heather
